What does a session look like?
One of the first things I want to know when you've inquired with me is WHO YOU ARE. Whether you're planning your wedding - or an afternoon spent cuddling your family. I want to know what fills your days. Do you love those city vibes, or forest adventures? What's your favorite thing to do with the people you love? Planning a session with me starts from the beginning of getting to know you - how you want to FEEL during your session and how we can make our time together most authentic to who you are.
These are more than just photos, these are your memories.
What can you prepare for before your session?
Come as you are. Forget about the pinterest photo you saw for inspiration, the instagram post you gushed over dreaming of recreating something exactly the same. Forget all of it. Let's focus on you. Whether you're preparing for your engagement session to family session, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable. From what you are wearing, to how you're feeling. The first thing I ask before we meet is, HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL? My job as your photographer is to translate that emotion into tangible photographs for yourself + loved ones to embrace. I'm here pre-session to help you scout out locations, chat about outfits or anything in between. But above all, I want our time together to become a piece of your most cherished memories.
I've had the pleasure of working with Megan for business/lifestyle photos and for family photos. She was a joy to work with in both settings. She was amazingly patient with our young kids and captured amazing photos even with uncooperative toddlers. During our lifestyle shoots she made me feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera and was able to capture authentic and natural emotion. I would 10/10 recommend Megan to anyone looking to get photos done for any occasion! She will make you feel right at home and is truly talented at what she does and you can feel how passionate she is about it.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
— Nicole Gillett, Family Session
What is the importance of trust?
How do you know when you trust someone? When you step in front of my camera, you're instantly trusting me. You're allowing me the privilege to make a time in your life stand still. You're giving me the opportunity to document a small piece of your story, that when laid out - is really a very big piece. Like tender kisses from your husband-to-be, or gentle cuddles with your new baby girl. You're allowing me to capture those moments of quiet, of love, of celebration, of hope, of passion and everything in between. When allowing me to document a piece of your life, you're given me a life of my own. One that I can confidently stand tall and be proud of, one that doesn't ask for anything more than a life of love, and passion, and intent. Because of your trust in me, you are showing me that this world is kind, and generous, and so dang full of love. So thank you for even considering that strength of trust with me. I'll start out as a complete stranger that you've decided to share your most cherished moments with, and turn into someone that I can only hope you'll be able to call a friend.
- Megan + Oleg, Wedding
My husband and I used Megan Dawn Photography for our engagement photos and our wedding. Both were great experiences. Our wedding would not have been the same without her. Not only is she an amazing photographer but also, a wonderful human being. She even kept me calm when my groom was running late! Megan went above and beyond for our special day, making us feel totally comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera. How she made us regular folk look like we are naturals in front of a camera..I'll never know! She delivered our photos to us in a timely fashion, with many sneak peaks before hand (thanks Megan!) I would recommend anyone and everyone to use her services. You will not regret it!!
- Caitlin + Jordan, Proposal
We are incredibly pleased with the results we got. I reached out to her to do secret proposal shots as well as an engagement session afterwards.
Not only was she really open and professional, but she was also active with great suggestions. She actually ended up helping with the proposal set up itself which was very much appreciated. With all the work she did--set up, scouting, communication, and of course photography--it was well worth the price. And now we have some of our best memories preserved forever.
- Baby Sawyer, Newborn
My husband and I absolutely love the photos Megan took of us and our baby girl during our newborn session. Megan was so professional and polite from the first second we met her. When she came to our house she was so patient and understanding. As you can probably guess, working with a newborn can be challenging but Megan made it seem effortless and didn't put any timelines or pressure on us! She captured the love we have for our daughter perfectly and now we have memories in the form of photos to cherish forever! We would recommend her to anyone and can't wait for her to capture our family's memories in the future!
